Antique 17th Century British very rare and original John Speed (1551-1629) map of the Bishoprick and Citie of Durham, publication (1611 or later), hand-coloured engraved map, map measuring 383mm x 506mm, English text on reverse (pages 83-84, signature Y1), mounted in gilt frame, glazed front and rear. John Speed is undoubtedly the most famous single figure in the early history of the English map making.
