19th Century Victorian Silver monumental figural centerpiece, raised on three cast foliate feet, the base is applied with a very crisp scrolling foliate decoration in relief, supporting three large and finely modelled classical female figures, holding an openwork basket applied with a cast grapevine border. Hallmarked English silver (925), London, year 1838 (A), Maker's mark EEJWB for Edward, Edward Jr, John & William Barnard.

Antique 19th Century early-Victorian Solid Silver monumental figural centerpiece, raised on three cast foliate feet, the base is applied with a very crisp scrolling foliate decoration in relief, supporting three large and finely modelled classical female figures (the three Graces), holding an openwork basket applied with a cast grapevine border.
This is a most impressive and exceptional solid silver figural centerpieces, over 50 cm tall.
The piece has a very important provenence. The base is engraved on each side with memorial inscriptions. On one side: "Presented to William Yarnworth Jones by his partners Sebastian Gonzalez Martinez & John Peter Gassiot in token of their regard and to record their opinion of his zeal and ability in the menagement of the Oporto House, 30 September 1838". John Peter Gassiot was an esteemed businessman and scientist, together with the spaniard Martinez created the firm Martinez Gassiot & Co. The centerpiece was later given by Jones to his brother in law John D. Allcroft (Treasurer of Christ's Hospital), as proved by the inscription on the other side: "The gift of W. Y. Jones to his Brother in Law John D. Allcroft, Christmas 1874". The central panel bearing a Coat of Arms with stag's heads and the Motto: "Spes Mea In Deo".
The base, each figure and the basket are fully Hallmarked English silver (925 standard), London, year 1838 (A), Maker's mark EEJWB (Edward, Edward Jr, John & William Barnard).
