19th Century Victorian Silver Plated & glass monumental and exceptional figural centerpiece, the trefoil-shaped plinth base with cast foliate scroll and vine surmounted with three large and extremely detailed sculptures of a monk reading a message and holding a book, a woman with a tray of fish and a game hunter with a fowl, flanking a central column wrapped with cast leaves rising to support a cast foliate arch gallery supporting a fitting cut-glass bowl. The stepped base is beautifully engraved and applied with cast animals, comprising various birds and a dog. Maker's marks "E&Co" for Elkington & Co.

Antique rare mid-19th Century Victorian Silver Plated & glass monumental and exceptional figural centerpiece, the trefoil-shaped plinth base with cast foliate scroll and vine surmounted with three large and extremely detailed sculptures of a monk reading a message and holding a book, a woman with a tray of fish and a game hunter with a fowl, flanking a central column wrapped with cast leaves rising to support a cast foliate arch gallery supporting a fitting cut-glass bowl. This is one of the most impressive and exceptional Elkington's figural centerpieces ever made, over 60 cm tall and beautifully detailed.
The base bears the silver plated marks "E&Co", for Elkington & Co, one of the most important Victorian manufacturers, letter "0" for year 1853. The base is also engraved "PUB. BY ELKINGTON & CO, JULY 1854".
