20th Century genuine and superb Louis Vuitton "haute courier" / steamer trunk, very large size, painted monogram canvas, leather and brass bound, reinforced with wooden laths, with wheels to the base and leather handles to either end, interior lined with cream canvas and fitted with two original storage compartments, brass hardware signed and numbered lock.
The sides have some traces of initials and old stikers of Palace Hotel Milan and Grand Hotel du Quirinal in Rome, icons of the luxury lifestyle during the Belle Epoque.
Brand tag on the internal side of the cover reading "Louis Vuitton I. RUE SCRIBE PARIS, 149 NEW BOND ST LONDON", serial number "300257", the piece dates to year 1910's. The cover also bearing the retailer's tag for "JOHN WANAMAKER, Sole Agent for Louis Vuitton trunks in the United States of America", a very important American merchant, civil, political and religious figure, considered the "pioneer in marketing" and advertising.
