DESCRIPTION

Antique 19th Century Victorian wooden trunk with brass handles, used to store Ede’s Eye Liquid. John Ede a nineteenth century entrepreneur from Birmingham, believed whole heartedly in the power of advertising, seen here in his exaggerated claims about a homemade eye liquid. Unfortunately even he couldn’t fool people for long and after some initial success the eye liquid did not endure and John Ede closed up shop in 1880. An incredible piece of history and a very decorative conversation piece.
