19th Century exceptional Indian silver repousse three-piece tea set, comprising of teapot, sugar bowl and cream jug, each piece is profusely and beautifully repousse' decorated with scrolling foliage and flowers on a tooled matted ground, entwined cast cobra shaped handles, coconut shaped body resting on realistically modelled lion paw feet, the lid surmounted with a pineapple finial.

DESCRIPTION

Antique 19th Century exceptional Indian solid silver repousse three-piece tea set, comprising of teapot, sugar bowl and cream jug, each piece is profusely and beautifully repousse' decorated with scrolling foliage and flowers on a tooled matted ground, entwined cast cobra shaped handles, coconut shaped body resting on realistically modelled lion paw feet, the lid surmounted with a pineapple finial.

Each piece is very heavy and finely crafted, undoubtedly made by one of the best Cutch silversmiths. Although the set appears to be unmarked, which is often the case for Indian silver, it has been tested silver (900+ standard), the set dates to the late 19th century.
