20th Century French Art Deco bronze by Pierre Le Faguay (1892-1962), modelled as a hunter with spear on rocky shard (The Stone Hunter)

A student of Vibert at the Geneva School of Fine Arts, Pierre le Faguays worked with various sculptors including Max Le Verrier the Susse foundry, Etling, the nephews of J. Lehman, among others. His style is closely resembles that of Demetre Chiparus.

He participated in his first exhibition at the Salon de la Société des Artistes Français in 1922. He received an honorable mention there in 1926 and another honorable mention, in the Sculpture section, in 1927.

His worked with materials as varied as marble, stone, terracotta, bronze, ivory or alabaster. He is particularly inspired by the statues of “Tanagra”. Le Faguays is also very well known for creations in cast iron under different pseudonyms such as Guerbe and Fayral, surnames of his mother and his wife Raymonde Guerbe. He presents in Paris two groups of sculptures in the pavilion of A. Goldscheider at the Exhibition of Decorative and Industrial Arts. He also participated as an interior designer with two monumental bas-reliefs for the civil aviation hall during the 1937 Specialized Exhibition in Paris.
