DESCRIPTION

Antique 19th Century Austrian Monumental solid silver-gilt statue of the goddess Fortuna (goddess of fortune and luck), holding the cornucopia (symbolizing luck and fortune) and sailing a boat across the sea (symbolizing the uncertainty of life), the front of the boat is decorated with the bust of Athena (the goddess of wisdom and war). A beautifully modelled statue on a large marble base. The statue depicting the famous Latin saying (fortune favors the brave). Hallmarked Austrian silver (Diana head, 900 standard), year 1860-1880, Makers Mark (Indistinct).
