DESCRIPTION

Antique 19th Century Imperial Russian solid silver & enamel cigarette case, rectangular form with rounded corners, both side decorated with traditional Russian stylized flowers and foliage in polychrome cloisonne' enamel, the cigarette case is richly parcel gilded. Both sides of the case are Hallmarked Russian silver 88 (915 standard), Moscow, year 1899-1908, Maker's mark in Cyrillic for Nikolai Nemirov-Kolodkin.

The Jeweller Nikolai Nemirov-Kolodkin (1872–91), owner of five shops on Silver Row in Moscow and four shops at the Nizhny Novgorod Fair. Commissioned to make silverware for the Moscow Palace Office in 1876 and the imperial palaces in Moscow in 1877 and was awarded the title of purveyor to the court of Grand Duchess Elizabeth Fyodorovna.
