Antique late-19th Century French palatial ormolu bronze twenty-seven light chandelier by the renowned designer and bronzier Maison Mottheau et Fils. This chandelier is in superb condition, the foliate and swag adorned branch arms held by six nude maidens. The top decorated with large acanthus leaves, ribbon tied junctions and three oval plaques with female profile portraits. The lights held by three columns terminating with a pine cone shaped finial. Maison Mottheau et Fils was a leading bronzier in late nineteenth century, celebrated at the Paris Exhibition Universelle in 1900 for his 'Torchere Lumineuse,' the firm became quickly known for its decorative lighting fixtures, and went on to collaborate with leading Parisian sculptors to adorn their bronze chandeliers, wall lights, and candelabras.
