The shaped oval basin with scrolling border, the ewer profusely and beautifully chased and embossed with scrolling leaves, hinged cover in a similar design, cast figural handle depicting a mermaid holding a garland, very finenly modelled and chiseled.

Antique 20th Century exeptional Continental Solid Silver ewer on a basin stand, both parts richly gilt, magnificent Rococo design, massive size and extremely heavy gauge.
The shaped oval basin with scrolling border, the ewer profusely and beautifully chased and embossed with scrolling leaves, hinged cover in a similar design, cast figural handle depicting a mermaid holding a garland, very finenly modelled and chiseled.
The ewer's base and tray bear pseudo-marks, probably a silversmith active in Hanau, Germany in the early 20th Century, had been acid tested and shows to be 800+ grade of silver.
