19th Century German Hanau Silver Tureen and Cover, impressively large and exceptionally heavy, resting on four cast feet modelled like eagle's claws on balls, navette-shaped tureen decorated on each side with a Classical bas-relief, each side is applied with cast figural handles modelled like winged females holding laurel crowns, the cover is surmounted by a cast figural finial modelled like a swan. Hallmarked with pasudo-marks for German Hanau silver (800+ standard), the marks are the ones for J. D. Schleissner & Sohne.

The base is Hallmarked with pasudo-marks for German Hanau silver (acid tested shows a 800+ standard), the marks are the ones for J. D. Schleissner & Sohne, one of the most important silver manufacturers active in Hanau in the 19th Century.
CONDITION
In Great condition - No damage, just general wear.
