17th Century German Silver Lidded Tankard, richly gilt, cylindrical form on spreading foliage chased foot, the sides are beautifully embossed and chased with St. Lawrence of Rome, holding the gridiron, St Catherine of Alexandria, holding the wheel, and St Bernard of Clairvaux, holding a crucifix, each below an engraved caption and within landscapes. Hallmarked German Silver to the foot, "O" probably city of Osterode, Maker's mark HB conjoined.

Antique extremely rare 17th Century German Solid Silver Lidded Tankard, richly gilt, cylindrical form on spreading foliage chased foot, the sides are beautifully embossed and chased with St. Lawrence of Rome, holding the gridiron, St Catherine of Alexandria, holding the wheel, and St Bernard of Clairvaux, holding a crucifix, each below an engraved caption and within landscapes. Plain scroll handle terminating in an openwork cast foliage thumbpiece, the hinged cover with a chased band of foliage and flowers and with a flowering finial. Hallmarked German Silver to the foot, "O" probably city of Osterode, year 1660's, Maker's mark HB conjoined (Unknown to me).
