DESCRIPTION

Stylish mid-20th Century unusual 'Zebra wood' two door, three drawer sideboard from the Morris of Glasgow, designed by Neil Morris and is from the Cambrae Range, which won awards at the 1950 Ideal Home Exhibition. Veneered in a beautiful and unusual Zebra wood,unique to this manufacturer.

Morris of Glasgow, was established in 1884 by Harris Morris. By 1904 they were furnishers of ocean liners built in the shipyards of the Clyde. In 1930 Morris was commissioned to supply and fit the furnishings for the Cunard Queen Mary ocean liner, also built on the Clyde.

In 1938 Neil Morris, son of Harris, joins the company and soon becomes an innovator in wood technology and design. in 1947 Morris becomes the favored Royal supplier and was commissioned to design and make a bedroom suite for the Queen and Prince Philip, as a Royal Wedding gift.
