Stunning 20th Century Austro-Hungarian solid silver and enamel chess set, the two Medieval armies are also richly gilt and enamelled in deep and pale blue, the hinged top opening to reveal a red velvet lined interior fitted for storage, the sides are applied with gilt mounts framing enamel plaques depicting battle scenes and with cabochon accents. The frame not hallmarked (tested 925 silver standard), the set is typically Austrian or Hungarian, made in the first half of the 20th Century.
