Antique 20th Century Italian E.Avolio solid silver pair of sculptural candelabra with gilded rococo bases, representing a Merman and a Mermaid each holding a cornucopia supporting a acanthus leaf six light candelabrum. The quality of the sculptures is very fine, heavy and well modelled, made by one of the greatest Italian silversmiths of the early 20th Century. All figures undoubtedly made by E.Avolio (Eugenio Avolio, Naples, active 1876-1930), a very important silversmith specialising in impressive sculptural pieces inspired to Classical art.
