DESCRIPTION
Antique 20th Century American Gorham Silver plated, copper and brass novelty artillery shell cocktail shaker, huge size (twice as tall than the usual size), modelled as a fac-simile of the WWI Eighteen-Pounder Shrapnel Shell, in three sections, the top opens to reveal the strainer, the base contains a framework with 12 shot glasses (this type of shakers generally contain only 4 glasses).
The piece is Marked "FAC-SIMILE EIGHTEEN POUNDER SHRAPNEL SHELL" and "Patent Applied for America and Foreign Countries".
Although not marked the piece is known to be by Gorham Silver Company (important American manufacturer, please follow this link) and it dates to year 1910-20. A similar piece (but smaller) recently sold in auction for $9500 excluding premium.
CONDITION
In Great Condition - No damage, just general wear. The piece has probably been commissioned to contain a larger set of beakers.
