Antique 19th Century Chinese Export solid silver bowl, the sides are profusely chased and pierced, depicting dragons chasing the flaming pearl of wisdom among clouds, good size and stunning workmanship, fitted with a translucent red liner.
The base is Hallmarked Chinese silver 90 (900+ silver standard), Retailer's mark "WH" for Wang Hing & Company, the most important and renown Chinese Export luxury retailer and silver manufacturer active in Hong Kong, Canton and Shanghai. Wang Hing was probably responsible for producing more Chinese Export Silver than any other Chinese retail silversmith. The company was also one of the first to establish a large retail emporium that grew to sell a wide variety of luxury goods. (for more information please see A.
