19th Century Victorian Silver ewer / jug, very unusual design, of plain form, the hinged lid is applied with a beaded decoration, the handle is applied with a very original roped decoration, the bottom is mounted with a cut-glass base. Hallmarked English silver (925), London, year 1871 (q), Maker's mark crowned CFH for Charles Frederick Hancock.

DESCRIPTION

Antique 19th Century rare Victorian Solid Silver ewer / jug, very unusual design, of plain form, the hinged lid is applied with a beaded decoration, the handle is applied with a very original roped decoration, the bottom is mounted with a cut-glass base.

Both parts are Hallmarked English silver (925 Standard), London, year 1871 (q), Maker's mark crowned CFH for Charles Frederick Hancock, one of the best silversmiths operating during the Victorian period, Royal silversmith, previously a partner of Storr and Mortimer.
