19th Century Victorian Silver exceptionally large and magnificent yachting trophy cup and cover, very decorative, heavy gauge, profusely chased with stylized foliate and floral decoration, twin cast handles, matching cover in the same style terminating with a large and stunning cast finial modelled as a winged figure, the allegory of Victory. Hallmarked English silver (925), London, year 1875 (u), Maker's mark crowned JSB for John Septimus Beresford.

Description

Antique 19th Century Victorian Solid Silver exceptionally large and magnificent yachting trophy cup and cover, very decorative, heavy gauge, profusely chased with stylized foliate and floral decoration, twin cast handles, matching cover in the same style terminating with a large and stunning cast finial modelled as a winged figure, the allegory of Victory.

The front bears a memorial inscription "Presented to ROYAL SOUTHERN YACHT CLUB July 1876, by the Countess of Cardigan & Lancaster".

Each part (included the finial) is fully Hallmarked English silver (925 Standard), London, year 1875 (u), Maker's mark crowned JSB (John Septimus Beresford, great silversmith).
