19th Century Victorian Cellini pattern silver set of three graduated salvers, of round form the pierced border, featuring a frieze of masks, lions, cornucopia and fruiting vines in the classical Cellini revival taste, within a laurel rim, the centre hand engraved with spread eagles, swag and scrolling foliage.

DESCRIPTION

Antique late-19th Century Victorian Cellini pattern solid silver set of three graduated salvers, of round form the pierced border, featuring a frieze of masks, lions, cornucopia and fruiting vines in the classical Cellini revival taste, within a laurel rim, the centre hand engraved with spread eagles, swag and scrolling foliage.

The pattern is called in honor of Benvenuto Cellini, the sculptor and goldsmith of the 16th Century considered by many as the greatest of all time. Hallmarked English silver (925 standard), London, year 1890's, Maker S.S (Stephen Smith), Retailed by D.C Rait & Sons, Glasgow.
