19th Century Victorian Silver massive decorative vase, resting on a circular foot embellished with a cast naturalistic decoration imitating sea foam, knopped stem embellished with leaves and flowers in relief, one side chased in relief with Neptune on a chariot pulled by sea-horses and other deities. Hallmarked English silver (925), London, year 1851 (Q), Maker's mark CR GS for Charles Reily & George Storer.

DESCRIPTION

Antique 19th Century rare Victorian Solid Silver massive decorative vase, resting on a circular foot embellished with a cast naturalistic decoration imitating sea foam, knopped stem embellished with leaves and flowers in relief, one side chased in relief with Neptune on a chariot pulled by sea-horses and other deities.

The rim is applied with an exceptional cast leafy and floral border, two impressive cast handles modelled like mythological dolphins.

The piece is Hallmarked English silver (925 standard), London, year 1851 (Q), Maker's mark CR GS (Charles Reily & George Storer, important silversmiths specializing in highly decorative silverware, please follow this link to a wine cooler held by the Victoria & Albert Museum in London).

CONDITION

In Great condition - No damage, just general wear.
