Antique early 19th Century Georgian Solid Silver lidded cup / wine cooler, raised on a circular foot, urn shaped, cast angular handles with acanthus leaves junctions, applied band, the inside is richly gilt. One side applied with a figural medallion representing a young boy with an harp on a dolphin, the Mythological figure of Arion, please follow this link. The other side bears an original memorial inscription: "This Cup is presented to the Rev. James MacDonald, by a few select friends in London, in testimony of the high Esteem (...) fot the Scholar and the Gentleman, 1803". The cup is extremely large and can be used as a wine cooler, very high quality of the workmanship. Both parts are fully Hallmarked English Silver (925 Standard), London, year 1803 (H), Maker's mark RC (Richard Cooke).

In Great Condition - no damage, just general wear.
